Wow, I am blown away by how smooth our first day of school operated today! The children as a whole had very little difficulty with separation anxiety, and some classes looked as if they’ve not missed a day since May. Fair warning though, occasionally the newness of the first week helps make everything run smooth and then on week #2, as reality sets in, some tears and temper tantrums might flare up. So watch out for that and don’t be surprised if you meet with some resistance about school in the coming week or two.
I want to remind each parent to sign your child in and out each day as you drop off and pick up your child. This is very important for our licensing standards that we have your initials and time that you brought/picked up your child. Sign in sheets are just outside each classroom door.
Lastly, I want to let you all know of a new practice we will consistently be incorporating this year. When each child comes in the room and puts their stuff away, they will then go to wash their hands. Research shows that if students wash their hands as they enter school, it significantly reduces the spread of illness. We are constantly trying to find ways to improve our school, and we feel like this new consistent practice will help keep us even healthier.
